BIOGRAPHY OF THOMAS BOWEN GRIFFIN, 1829-1899
Thomas Bowen Griffin was born on Dec. 18, 1829 in Franklin,
now Banks County, in the Silver Shoals area. He was the son of
Asa Griffin and Nancy Ann McDonald Little Griffin.
Thomas Griffin married Louisa Adaline (or Adalyne) Turk on
Feb. 24, 1853 in Franklin County, GA. Louisa
A. Turk was the daughter of William Turk and Jane Mays Turk.
Thomas B. Griffin served in Company A 24th Regiment-GA Volunteer
Infantry-Army of Northern Virginia "Independent Volunteers".
He enlisted August
24, 1861 and served as a 1st Sergeant and was sent home as disabled on May 14, 1862,
discharged from New Kent VA.

Thomas Griffin represented Banks County in the GA Legislature
in 1882-1883. He was schooled in law
and was greatly interested in education. T.B. Griffin appears on the Order of Exercises
of New Lebanon Academy (near present day Homer) on Dec. 22, 1848.
T.B. Griffin was a farmer and had a grist mill. He worked
tirelessly until he was stricken with pneumonia and died shortly thereafter
on March 29, 1899. He and his wife
and buried on the Furr plantation near Silver Shoals church.
