Felton Fairest ACREE, 83, of Greer, SC died June 19,
1999. A native of Banks County, GA, he was the son of the late Noah Hershell and
Ethel Elizabeth Morgan Acree. Survivors include: wife, Dora Cleo Pressley Acree;
son, Derrell Acree; daughters, Doris and Elaine Acree; brother, Walter Acree;
one grandchild and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were June 21, 1999 at
Greer Church of God, conducted by the Rev. Marshall Rampey, the Rev. Raymond Pooley
and the Rev. Bobby Duncan. Interment was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Wood Mortuary
was in charge of the arrangements.
Jesse W. ADAMSON, 85, of Lula, GA died August 17,
2002. He was born in Banks County, GA on June 15, 1917 to the late Thomas and
Marcenia Thomas Adamson. Survivors include his wife, Eula Davis Adamson; son,
Ray Adamson; sister, Irene Forrester; granddaughter. Funeral services were held
on August 20, 2002 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, in Baldwin, GA with
the Rev. Drewery Loggins officiating. Interment was in the Old Belton Cemetery
in Lula, GA.

Ernest Eugene ANDERSON, 81, died November 2, 1975,
in Banks County, Cornelia, GA. He was born in Banks County, GA, the son of the
late Tom and Tina Cash Anderson. He was a veteran of WWI and a member of the Damascus
Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lucy Addison Anderson; daughters,
Mrs. John Sanders and Mrs. Jack Sanders; son, Omer Anderson; brothers, Joe, Burch,
Tom and Bill Anderson; sisters, Miss Gertrude Anderson and Mrs. Bertie Brady,
Mrs. Minnie Ragsdale, Mrs. Suzie Carter; three grandchildren. Funeral services
were November 3, 1975 at Damascus Baptist Church with the Revs. Joe Brown, Glenn
Ward and Larry Joe Wilbanks officiating. Interment was in the Damascus Baptist
Church Cemetery. McGahee Funeral Home of Cornelia, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
Gertrude Susie ANDERSON, 88, of Baldwin, GA died July
12, 1984. She was born in Banks County, the daughter of the late Tom E. and Tina
Cash Anderson. She was a member of Baldwin Baptist Church. Survivors include one
sister, Mrs. Bertie Brady; one half sister, Mrs. Susie A. Carter; two brothers,
Josiah J. and Burch Anderson; one half brother, Tom E. Anderson, Jr. The funeral
was July 13, 1984 at Baldwin Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mike Campbell and the
Rev. Ed Aiken officiating. Interment was in Baldwin Cemetery.
Thomas Edward ANDERSON, Jr., 84, died March 15, 2003
in Guilford County, Greensboro, NC. A native of Banks County, GA, he was the son
of the late Thomas Edward Anderson and Mary Ophelia Hill Banks Anderson. Survivors
include his wife, Evelyn Hill Anderson; sister, Mary Anderson Carter. Graveside
services were held at the Hilly family plot in Clarkesville Memorial Cemetery
with Masonic Rites being rendered. Cornelius E. Church and Son Funeral Home of

Frank Kell ANDREWS, 55, died December 24, 1994 in
Royston, GA. Born in Banks County, GA, the son of the late Emory Knox Andrews,
he was a member of the Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are his mother, Blondine
Stewart Andrews Dooley; daughters, Jenda Seawright, Kelly Bernard, Ashley Seymour
and Jan Stowe; brothers, Ray and Donald Andrews; sister, Jeanette Callison; half
sisters, Ruth Payne and Dot Wilkinson; grandchildren. Funeral services were held
December 26, 1994 at Cedar Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Norman Lindsey
and Gary Sunders officiating. Interment was in the Cedar Creek Baptist Church
Cemetery. Strickland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Hobart Lamar ANDREWS, 76, of Stephens County, Toccoa,
GA, died August 16, 1986. Born in Banks County, he was the son of the late Emory
Knox and Nettle Mae Ward Andrews. He was a member of Lamar Christian Church. Surviving
are wife, Lessie Kesler Andrews; sisters, Mrs. Roy (Ruth) Payne, Mrs. Jewel (Videlle)
Payne and Mrs. Bill (Dot) Wilkinson; half sister, Mrs. Jeanette Callison; half
brothers, Ray and Kell Andrews; stepmother, Mrs. Blondine Dooley. Services were
August 18, 1986 at Lamar Christian Church by the Revs. Ben Blake, Bob Campbell
and Howard Roark. Interment was in the Lamar Christian Church Cemetery. Acree-Davis
Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Jackson Lincoln ANDREWS, 47, of Baldwin, GA died May
1, 1973 in Stephens County, GA. A lifelong resident of Banks County, GA, he was
a son of Mrs. Viola Lord Andrews and the late Grover Cleveland Andrews. He was
a member of Lamar Christian Church. Survivors include his mother; his wife, Mrs.
Annie Mangum Andrews; stepson, Stanley Aaron; brother, Carmen Andrews; sisters,
Mrs. Virgil Wilbanks, Mrs. Christine Wilkinson, Mrs. Luther Parker and Mrs. Garner
White. Funeral services were held May 3, 1973 at Lamar Christian Church with Ministers
Russell Newell and David Terrell officiating. Interment was in the Lamar Christian
Church Cemetery. Whitfield Perkins Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Lessie Irene Kesler ANDREWS, 84,
died November 7, 1990 in Stephens County, Toccoa, GA. She was born in Banks
County, GA, the daughter of Dock J. and Eula Ragsdale Kesler. She was preceded
in death by her husband, Hobart Lamar Andrews. Surviving are a sister, Lila
Ayers and three brothers, Roy, Herman, and Ernest Kesler. Services were at Lamar
Christian Church by the Revs. John Sennett and Lamar Garrison with burial in
the Lamar Christian Church cemetery. Arrangements are by Acree-Davis Funeral
Home.
Mrs. Theo Dosha Kelley Andrews, 91, died Tuesday, Septmeber 7, 1999. A native of Banks County, Mrs. Andrews was the daughter of the late Johnny and Reppard Ayers Kelley. Mrs. Andrews was preceded in death by her husband, Carson Andrews. Survivors include one daughter, Annie Sue Savage, Toccoa; one son, Vernon Andrews, Watkinsville; two sisters, Ethel Farmer, Toccoa, and Volina Waddell, Hull; 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Burial was in Stephens Memorial Gardens. Acree-Davis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Viola Ward ANDREWS, 94, of Baldwin, GA, widow of Grover
Cleveland Andrews, died February 10, 1989. Born in Banks County, she was the daughter
of the late Pless and Georgia Brady Ward. She was a member of Lamar Christian
Church. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Virgil Wilbanks, Mrs. Tom Wilkinson, Mrs.
Luther Parker and Mrs. Garner White; son, Carmon Andrews; sisters, Mrs. Lonzo
Smith and Mrs. Roy T. Smith; brothers, Dorsey and Chandler Ward; grandchildren;
great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Services were held February 12,
1989 at Lamar Christian Church by the Revs. Darrell Goodwin, Ben Blake and John
Sennett. Interment was in the Lamar Christian Church Cemetery.
William David ANDREWS, 63, died July 31, 1948. He
was born and reared in the Columbia district of Banks County, GA. He is survived
by wife of 47 years, Nettie Brown Andrews; daughters, Mrs. Orpha Ausburn, Misses
Annie Ruth and Nettie Mae Andrews; sons, Carson, Tommy, Cleo, Billy, Palmour and
Roy Lee Andrews; brothers, Jasper, Tom and Cleve Andrews; sisters, Miss Lilla
Andrews and Mrs. Cilla Ward. Funeral services were held August 1, 1948 at Lamar
Christian Church of which he was a member. Interment was in Lamar Christian Church
Cemetery. Rev. Fletcher Durham and Rev. Plumer Wilmont officiating. Thos. J. McGahee
Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Coy ARFLIN, 92, of Anderson, SC, died May 14, 2002.
Born in Banks County, GA, he was the son of the late William R. Arflin Sr. and
Roxie Jump Arflin. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Ware Arflin; one brother
and four sisters. Surviving are daughters, Francine A. Franklin and Shirley A.
McKinney; sister, Monteen Bowen; grandchildren; great-grandchildren. Services
were May 16, 2002 at the McDougald Funeral Home by Dr. Lewis E. Greene and the
Rev. Tom Turner. Interment was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson, SC.
Elizabeth "Lizzie" ARIAIL, 88, died
June 10, 1974. She was preceded in death by her parents, David W. and Mary Kesler
Garrison and husband, Joseph A. Ariail, Sr. She was born in Banks County and
was a member of Maysville Baptist Church. Survivors include daughters, Mrs.
Thelma A. Ellison, Mrs. Marcelle Haines, Mrs. Jeanette Fleming , Mrs. Annette
Radford, Jr.; sons, Joseph A. Ariail, Jr. and H. L. Ariail, Sr.; brother, Dr.
D. H. Garrison; sister, Mrs. Fred B. James; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Maysville Baptist Church by the Revs. W. J. Reynolds
and Robert H. Scruton with interment in Maysville Sunrise Cemetery. Little-Ward
Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
LEEROY ARROWOOD Mr. Leeroy Arrowood 23, of Banks County passed away October 16, 1954 in a car accident. He was born February 5, 1931, in Banks County, the son of Arvil and Alma Lewallen Arrowood. He was preceded in death by his mother. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Fannie Poole Arrowood, Baldwin; father, Arvil Arrowood; sons, Henry Arvil and Noah Quinton; grandfather, Noah Lumpkin and step grandmother, Lillie Woods Lewallen, Baldwin. Funeral services were held October 18, at the Harmony Baptist Church. Interment was in the Harmony Baptist Cementery. MaGahee Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Ora Mae Lewallen ARROWOOD, 89, of Cornelia, GA died
November 11, 2002. Mrs. Arrowood was born in Banks County, GA on October 1, 1913,
the daughter of the late Walter Brofford and Harriet Farmer Lewallen. She was
preceded in death by her husband Eddie William Arrowood. Funeral services were
held at the chapel of Whitfield Funeral Home, South, in Baldwin, GA. Interment
was in the Line Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Eva Moore;
sons, Jimmy and Frank Arrowood. Whitfield Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Rose Dalton Shubert ARROWOOD, 86, died June 25, 1999.
A native of Banks County, Mrs. Arrowood was born April 27, 1913. She was the daughter
of the late Albert and Nettie Smith Dalton. Mrs. Arrowood was also a member of
Alto Congregational Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by two husbands,
Hershel Shubert and Arvel F. Arrowood. Survivors include four sons, W. Young and
Fay K. Shubert, Frankie J.and Jerry A. Arrowood; sister, Lee Fallyer Lewallen;
six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were June 28, 1999
at Alto Congregational Holiness Church with the Rev. Leon Brown and Evangelist
Jerry Arrowood officiating. Interment was in the Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mary Free AUSBURN, 98, of Easley, SC, formerly of
Banks County, GA, widow of William Ausburn, died September 30, 1983 in Easley,
SC. Born in Banks County, she was the daughter of the late Harmon and Clementine
Roberts Free. She was a member of Damascus Baptist Church. Surviving are sons,
Claude, Fred and Vance Ausburn; daughters, Mrs. Ellis Hall, Connie Hawkins and
Mrs. Lake Masters; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren.
Services were October 2, 1983 at McGahee-Griffin Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev.
Lester Palmer. Burial was in Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery in Banks County,
GA.
James H. AUSBURN, 49, died September 15, 1984. Born
in Banks County, he was the son of the late James Robert and Dollie Peyton Ausburn.
He was a member and deacon of Mountain View Baptist Church. Survivors include
sister, Mrs. Carolyn Stowe; half sister, Mrs. Will Taylor; brothers, Owen, Charles,
Frank and Joe Ausburn. Funeral services were September 17, 1984 at Mountain View
Baptist Church by the Revs. Swayne Cochran and David Ledford. Interment was in
the Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery. Arrangements were by Whitfield-Perkins
Funeral Home of Cornelia, GA.
Joe E. AUSBURN, 65, of Weaver, AL, died July 15, 2002.
Mr. Ausborn, the son of James Robert and Dolly Payton Ausburn, was a native of
Banks County, GA. He was an Army veteran and had attended First Baptist Church
of Weaver. Survivors include his wife, Hedwig W. "Heidi" Ausborn; son and daughter-in-law,
Roger J. and Cindy Ausborn; sister, Carolyn Stowe; two stepgrandchildren. Funeral
services were July 17, 2002 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Dr. Roger Willmore
officiating. Pallbearers were Bobby Hendrix, Arnold Johnson, Doug Erwin, Ken Bryant,
Donald Broome, Ed Cornelius and Calvin McDowell. Honorary pallbearers were Preston
Tubbs, Ed Houston and Harold Hobbs. Interment was in Anniston Memorial Gardens.
Bell Chitwood AYERS, 80, of Cornelia, GA died July
14, 1990 in Habersham County, GA. Born in Banks County, GA, she was a daughter
of the late Carter and Neatie Wilkenson Chitwood. In addition to her parents she
was preceded in death by her husband, Theo Ayers. Survivors include daughter,
Mrs. Serobia Gerrin; son, Johnny Ayers; sisters, Inez Stewart and Lois Wilkenson;
grandchildren; great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held July 16, 1990 at
Lamar Christian Church by the Revs. David Terrell, Ben Blake and John Sennett.
Interment was in the Lamar Christian Church Cemetery. McGahee-Griffin Funeral

Bessie Mae Brock AYERS, 77, of Alto, GA died May 17,
1983 in Gainesville, GA. Born in Banks County, GA, she was a daughter of the late
William and Nancy Simpson Brock. Survivors include her husband, Rom Ayers; daughters,
Mrs. Bonnie Shubert, Mrs. Edith Duncan; grandchildren; great-grandchildren. Funeral
services were held May 19, 1983 at McGahee-Griffin Funeral Home Chapel by the
Revs. Clyde Garrison and Tony Kemp. Interment was in Rock Springs Baptist Church
Cemetery in Banks County, GA. McGahee-Griffin Funeral Home was in charge of the
arrangements.
Dora Caudell AYERS, 58, of Banks County, Homer, GA
died July 27, 1941 in Atlanta, GA. She was born March 22, 1883. She is survived
by her husband, W. P. Ayers; sons, J. B. and W. C. Ayers; daughters, Mrs. W. F.
Durham, Mrs. J. B. Crawford, Mrs. Fred Wiley, Mrs. F. L. Kinman, Misses Monteen,
Nell and Newell Ayers; a host of friends. Her remains were interred in Damascus
Baptist Church Cemetery on July 28, 1941. Funeral services were conducted by her
pastor Rev. Reid Lunsford.

Lila Kesler AYERS, 87, of Tates Creek Community, died
December 27, 1991. She was born in Banks County, GA and was a member of Lamar
Christian Church. Survivors include daughters, Lavell Payne, Hellon DeFoor and
Emmie Dewberry; brothers, Roy, Herman and Ernest Kesler; grandchildren; great-grandchildren
and great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dock and
Eula Ragsdale Kesler and husband, Ernest Ayers. Services were December 29, 1991
at the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home by the Rev. John Sennett
and Rev. Luther Williams. Interment was in the Tates Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Rom O. AYERS, 81, of Alto, GA died February 24, 1984.
Born in Banks County, GA, he was a son of the late William and Hepsie McDuffie
Ayers. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie
Brock Ayers. Survivors include daughters, Bonnie Hubert, Edith Duncan; brothers,
Otha and Herman Ayers; sister, Mrs. Paris Short; grandchildren; great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held February 25, 1984 at McGahee-Griffin Funeral Home Chapel
by the Revs. Tony Kemp and Clyde Garrison. Interment was in the Rock Springs Baptist

Theo Dewey AYERS, 78, died November 4, 1983 at Habersham
County Medical Center. Born in Banks County, GA, he was the son of the late James
and Mary Brady Ayers. He was a member of Lamar Christian Church. Surviving are
his wife, Bell Chitwood Ayers; daughter, Mrs. Serobia Gerrin; son, John Terrell
Ayers; brother, G. F. Ayers; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Funeral
services will be November 6, 1983 at Lamar Christian Church in Banks County, GA
by Ben Blake, Darrel Goodman and David Carrol. Burial was in the Lamar Christian
Church Cemetery. Arrangements are by McGahee-Griffin Funeral Home, Cornelia, GA
