Maxine Adamson Calhoun Gastonia, N.C. Maxine Adamson Calhoun, 80, died Friday, August 31, 2001, at the Manor House. A native of Banks County, Ms. Calhoun was a daughter of the late William Thomas and Marcenia Adamson. Ms. Calhoun was a former member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Homer. She was the wife of the late Rudolph "Bud" Calhoun and the sister of the late Ernest, Lauten and Austin Adamson. Survivors include sons, William Calhoun, Gastonia N.C. and Terry Calhoun, Oak Island N.C.; brother, Jesse Adamson, Lula, and twin sister, Irene Forrester, Homer. Burial was in Gaston Memorial Park. Jimmie Lou Garrison Crane Obituary (Abstract) The Banks County News, April 4, 2001 Mrs. Jimmie Lou Garrison Crane, 76, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at New Horizon Nursing Home (Gainesville, Ga.) following an extended illness. Mrs. Crane was born in Banks County, but had lived in Hall County for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Nellie and Tencie Sheridan Garrison. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Crane. Burial was in Antioch Baptist Church cemetery, Lumpkin County.

Bajah Blanton CARLAN, 86, of Elberton, GA, died June 10, 1974. He was born in Banks County, GA, the son of the late Gabriel and Lou Ella Dailey Carlan. He was a member of Falling Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Ida Ruff Carlan; daughter, Mrs. James E. Willis; sister, Mrs. Lon Pruitt; grandchildren; great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held June 11, 1974 at Falling Creek Baptist Church by the Revs. Jack McVeigh and Charles Johnson. Burial was in the Falling Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Marvin CARLAN, 82, of Jasper, GA. died January 19, 2002. A native of Banks County, GA, Mr. Carlan was a son of the late Henry and Ola Pruitt Carlan. He was also preceded in death by a son, Terry Carlan. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Hinton Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Carlan; daughter, Jan Tate; sons, Ron, Don and Tony Carlan; brother, Seaborn Carlan; grandchildren; great-grandchildren. Services were held January 21, 2002 at Hinton Methodist Church with the Rev. Sanford Willard officiating. Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, had charge of the arrangements.

Ola Pruitt CARLAN, 69, of Carnesville, GA, died August 27, 1955. Mrs. Carlan was born in Banks County, GA and was a member of the Nails Creek Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, William Henry Carlan; sons, Gabe F., Walter F., Henry S. and Marvin D. Carlan; daughters, Mrs. Mell Collins, Mrs. Grace Lelallen; brothers, Jesse and Ernest Pruitt; sisters Mrs. George Moore, Mrs. R. L. Keessee. Funeral services were held August 29, 1955 at Nails Creek Baptist Church by Dr. A. T. Cline and the Rev. Ted Sisk. Burial was in Nails Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Ellie P. CARLIN, 86, died September 19, 1973 in Stephens County, GA. He was born in Banks County, GA, a son of the late Frank and Jane Daley Carlin. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Myrtie Kesler Carlin; son, Thomas W. Carlin; daughters, Mrs. William Poole, Mrs. Howard Nunley, Mrs. Clarence William; brother, Bud Carlin; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great grandchild. Funeral services were held September 21, 1973 at the Nails Creek Baptist Church by the Revs. Ray Black and Ernest Ivester. Interment was in the Nails Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Otho CARTER, 79, of Alto, GA died October 30, 2002. Mr. Carter was born April 4, 1923, in Banks County, GA, the son of the late Walter and Daisey Miller Carter. He was preceded in death by brother, Fred Carter; sisters, Zelma Chitwood and Mae Hutson. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Curtis Eller; sons, David, Troy and Danny Carter; brothers, Ralph and Roy Carter; grandchildren; great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on November 1, 2002 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel in Baldwin, GA with the Revs. Billy Harris and Mike Taylor officiating. Belle Caudell CASH, 88, of Alto, GA died February 4, 1986 in Banks County, GA. Born in Banks County, GA, she was a daughter of the late Manley and Missouri Roe Caudell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Cash. Survivors include sons, Madison and Colton Cash; grandchildren; great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held February 6, 1986 at Harmony Baptist Church by the Rev. Gene Todd and Layman Warren Wilkinson. Interment was in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. John T. CASH, 51, died in Banks County, Hollingsworth, GA on April 20, 1945. He is survived by a wife; daughter, Percella Cash; sons, Carlton and Madison Cash; sisters, Mrs. H. T. Sanders, Mrs. Geo. L. Sellers. Rev. G. W. Wallace, preached the funeral sermon. The following citizens acted as pallbearers: M. R. Duckett, B. J. Duckett, T. B. Gailey, Guy L. Wilbanks, John Nunnally and Paul Nunnally. Katie Kesler CASH, 82, died September 14, 1981. The daughter of the late George and Frances Miller Kesler, she was born in Banks County, GA. Survivors include her husband, Noel Cash; sons, Maurice and Vernon Cash; granddaughter; grandsons; great-grandchild. Funeral services were held September 16, 1981 at the Lamar Christian Church with the Revs. Ben Blake, Russell Newell and Ron Medlock officiating. Interment was in the Lamar Christian Church Cemetery. Theodoria Perkins CASH, 78, died December 10, 1948 in Cornelia, GA. Born in Banks County in 1870, she married Freeman Cash on October 21, 1888. They moved to Cornelia in 1907. Mrs. Cash was a member of the Cornelia Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Freeman Cash in 1947. She is survived by daughters, Mrs. J. H. Wilbanks, Miss Myrtle Cash, Mrs. Anderson Garrison, Mrs. J. W. Ayers, Mrs. J. A. Stephens, Mrs. L. J. Crow, Mrs. W. J. Tidwell; sons, Theo, Bart, Melvin and Nelson Cash; grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Colonel John Perkins; sisters, Mr. H. I. Webster, Mrs. Charlie Loudermilk. Cornelius "Neil" Augustus CAUDELL, 48, of Greenville, SC, died January 31, 1969 . The son of the late Henry Jackson Caudell. He was born in Banks County, Homer, GA. He was a veteran of World War II and was a member of Walden Lodge 274, AFM and the Edgewood Church of Christ. Surviving are his wife, Eva Lou Ervin Caudell; daughter, Miss Beverly Caudell; son, Kenneth Caudell; step-son, William H. Ervin; step-daughters, Mrs. Shelby Jean Edens; Miss Becky Ervin and Mrs. Shelia Cebula; sisters, Mrs. Wilma Lewallen, Miss Louise Caudell, Mrs. Jewell Hobson , Mrs. Walter Lewallen and Mrs. Emma Means; brothers, James H., Thomas J., John M., Larry J., Andrew W., Luke L., Martin J. and George W. Irene Ayers CAUDELL, 69, of Banks County, Homer, GA died January 30, 1991. Born in Banks County, GA, she was the daughter of Nettie Kesler Ayers and the late James Frank Ayers. Surviving are mother; daughter, Jean Powell; sons, James, Alton, Ray and Ricky Caudell; brother, Wyman Ayers; grandchildren; great-grandchild. James E. CAUDELL, 76, died September 27, 1969 in Ware County, Waycross, GA. Mr. Caudell was born in Banks County, GA. Survivors include, brother, P. G. John Manley CAUDELL, age 55, of Banks County, Homer, GA died May 6, 1973 in Commerce, GA. A life-long resident of Banks County, GA, he was a son of the late Jack and Belle Means Caudell. He was a member of Damascus Baptist Church. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Steve Thorn and Mrs. Earl Arrowood; brothers, A.W., Luke L., Lowery J., Martin J., George W. and Jeff Caudell; sisters, Mrs. Walter Lewallen, Mrs. Emma Means, Mrs. John W. Talmadge "Tam" CAUDELL, 53, of Gilmer County, Ellijay, GA, died September 10, 1985. Mr. Caudell was born August 10, 1932, in Banks County, GA, the son of the late P. G. and Gladys Bell Caudell. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and received the Distinguished Service Medal, Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Hyatt Caudell; daughters, Kimberly Wimpey and Stephanie Caudell; grandson; brothers, Ford, George and P. G. Caudell; sisters, Marie Wilkinson, Bobbie Taylor, Marilyn Caldwell and Montie Meeler. Services were held September 12, 1985 from the Nails Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Sammy Adams and Rev. James Holt officiating. Interment was in the Nails Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Bernhardt Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Theodore CAUDELL, 52, died June 19, 1988. Born in Banks County, GA, he was a son of Mrs. Addie Newsome Caudell and the late Hoke Caudell, Sr. He was a member of Damascus Baptist Church. Surviving are mother; daughters, Mrs. Donna Jean Cole and Mrs. Kimberly Ann McAllister; son, Neal Caudell; sisters, Miss Sandra Caudell, Mrs. Catherine Boone and Mrs. Evelyn Willoughby; brothers, Hoke Caudell Jr., Ulysess, Harry and Douglas Caudell; grandchildren. Services were June 21, 1988 at Damascus Baptist Church by the Revs. Lester, Palmer and English. Burial was in the Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery.

William S. CAUDELL, 87, of Commerce, GA died May 21, 1988. He was born in Banks County, GA the son of the late John David and Bessie Leola Austin Caudell. Survivors include his wife, Hattie Cobb Caudell; daughters, Lula Mae Brookman, Velma Ellenburg, Evelyn Futrell, Janet Wilkins and Carole Masdon; sons, William S. Caudell, Jr. and Carlton Caudell; half sisters Annie Caudell, Fannie Caudell and Alice McCurley; 33 grandchildren. Funeral services were May 23, 1988 at Toccoa Pentacostal Holiness Church by Revs. Dennis Wilks and John Henry Cobb. Interment was in Toccoa City Cemetery with arrangements by the Whitlock Mortuary.

JULIA ANN THRELKELD CHAMBERS August 12, 1936 Mrs. Julia Ann (Threlkeld) Chambers died early Wednesday at her home near Lawrenceville. She was a native ofMadison County, and was seventy-two years of age. Surviving are her six sons, J. W. Chambers, Winder, J. L., W. O. and L. O. Chambers, of Lawrenceville, T. R. Chambers, of Maysville; one daughter, Mrs. A. J. Vining, of Atlanta, and a daughter-in -law, Mrs. R. F. Chambers of Maysville. The deceased has been a member of Silver Shoals church for fifty years. Loyd Cheek Carnesville-Loyd Cheek, 69, of the New Bethel Community, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at his residence. Born December 12, 1931, in Banks County, Mr. Cheek was a son of the late James Harrison and Inez Ward Cheek. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Tates Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Cheek was preceded in death by six brothers, Howard, Roy J., Jewell, Eugene, Clyde and Wilton. Mr. Cheek is survived by his wife, Faye Higgins Cheek; one son, Billy Cheek, Lawrenceburg KY.; one daughter, Cathy Cheek, Lawrenceburg KY.; step-son, Tyrus Deal, Canton; two brothers, Ralph Cheek, Eastanollee, and Dewey Cheek, Toccoa; three sisters, Corine Pless and Sue Scott, both of Toccoa, and Bertie Mae Fitzgerald, Tucker. Billy Paul Chitwood, 69, of Lula, died Sunday, December 30, 2001, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville. Mr. Chitwood was the son of the late Luther and Onie Crenshaw Chitwood. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving with the military police. Billy Paul Chitwood is survived by his wife, Barbara Stubbs Chitwod, Lula; daughters, Jane Trotter, Anchorage, AK and Paula Morris, Lula; brothers, Charles Chitwood, Lithia Springs, and Ray Chitwood, Lula; and sister, Hazel Pair, Cumming. Bruce Lane COCHRAN, 74, of Baldwin, GA, husband of Willie Mae Meeler Cochran, died June 28, 1980. Born in Banks County, GA, he was a son of Mrs. Martha Lane Cochran of Baldwin, GA and the late Jim Cochran. He was a member of Damascus Baptist Church. Julian Addy Cochran, 78, of Homer, died Wednesday, December 26, 2001, at his residence following a short illness. Julian Cochran was bron on May 5, 1923, in Banks County, to the late Matthew and Ella Ward Cochran. Mr. Cochran was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in WW II. Mr. Cochran is survived by his wife, Milfred Aaron Cochran, Homer; two sons, Phillip Cochran and James Cochran, both of Homer; two sisters, Imogene Cochran and Kelsey Hill, both of Athens. Born in Banks County, GA on February 27, 1924, Mrs. Cook was the daughter of Tilman and Sula Jordan Wade and the step-daughter of the late Josie Roberts Pierce Wade. Mrs. Cook was a member of the Alto Congregational Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Laymon Brady Cook; son, Keith Cook; brothers, Woodrow and Tilman Wade, Jr.; step-sister, Nettie McDuffie; step-brother, Marvin Pierce. Laymon Brady COOK, 80, died May 28, 2001. Mr. Cook was born in Banks County, GA on February 3, 1921. He was a son of the late Burt and Lola Brady Cook. Mr. Cook was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II. He attended Alto Congregational Holiness Church. Mr. Cook was preceded in death by a son, Keith Cook, brothers, Edwin and Lloyd Cook, and a sister, Mildred Payne. Mr. Cook is survived by his wife, Jewell Wade Cook; daughters, Linda McElroy, Joyce King, Beverly Shackelford, and Camilla Rumsey; sons, Larry and Kevin Cook; sister, Marjorie Blackburn; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
