Maxine Adamson Calhoun Gastonia, N.C. Maxine Adamson Calhoun, 80, died Friday, August 31, 2001, at the Manor House. A native of Banks County, Ms. Calhoun was a daughter of the late William Thomas and Marcenia Adamson. Ms. Calhoun was a former member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Homer. She was the wife of the late Rudolph "Bud" Calhoun and the sister of the late Ernest, Lauten and Austin Adamson. Survivors include sons, William Calhoun, Gastonia N.C. and Terry Calhoun, Oak Island N.C.; brother, Jesse Adamson, Lula, and twin sister, Irene Forrester, Homer. Burial was in Gaston Memorial Park. Jimmie Lou Garrison Crane Obituary (Abstract) The Banks County News, April 4, 2001 Mrs. Jimmie Lou Garrison Crane, 76, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at New Horizon Nursing Home (Gainesville, Ga.) following an extended illness. Mrs. Crane was born in Banks County, but had lived in Hall County for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Nellie and Tencie Sheridan Garrison. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Crane. Burial was in Antioch Baptist Church cemetery, Lumpkin County.

 


Bajah Blanton CARLAN, 86, of Elberton, GA, died June 10, 1974. He was born in Banks County, GA, the son of the late Gabriel and Lou Ella Dailey Carlan. He was a member of Falling Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Ida Ruff Carlan; daughter, Mrs. James E. Willis; sister, Mrs. Lon Pruitt; grandchildren; great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held June 11, 1974 at Falling Creek Baptist Church by the Revs. Jack McVeigh and Charles Johnson. Burial was in the Falling Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. JULIA ANN THRELKELD CHAMBERS August 12, 1936 Mrs. Julia Ann (Threlkeld) Chambers died early Wednesday at her home near Lawrenceville. She was a native ofMadison County, and was seventy-two years of age. Surviving are her six sons, J. W. Chambers, Winder, J. L., W. O. and L. O. Chambers, of Lawrenceville, T. R. Chambers, of Maysville; one daughter, Mrs. A. J. Vining, of Atlanta, and a daughter-in -law, Mrs. R. F. Chambers of Maysville. The deceased has been a member of Silver Shoals church for fifty years. The funeral was held at 11 o'clock Thursday morning from Cedar Creek Baptist Church, near Winder. Rev. Ben Wilkerson conducting the service. Internment in the churchyard. Loyd Cheek Carnesville-Loyd Cheek, 69, of the New Bethel Community, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at his residence. Born December 12, 1931, in Banks County, Mr. Cheek was a son of the late James Harrison and Inez Ward Cheek. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Tates Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Cheek was preceded in death by six brothers, Howard, Roy J., Jewell, Eugene, Clyde and Wilton. Mr. Cheek is survived by his wife, Faye Higgins Cheek; one son, Billy Cheek, Lawrenceburg KY.; one daughter, Cathy Cheek, Lawrenceburg KY.; step-son, Tyrus Deal, Canton; two brothers, Ralph Cheek, Eastanollee, and Dewey Cheek, Toccoa; three sisters, Corine Pless and Sue Scott, both of Toccoa, and Bertie Mae Fitzgerald, Tucker. Billy Paul Chitwood, 69, of Lula, died Sunday, December 30, 2001, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville. Mr. Chitwood was the son of the late Luther and Onie Crenshaw Chitwood. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving with the military police. Mrs. Crowe is survived by her husband, Larry Crowe; daughter, Tina Barrs; son, Jamie Crowe; sisters, Jearline and Janette Savage; brother, James Savage; grandchildren. Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, of Demorest, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
