Agnes Nichols Walls, 83, of Sanford (Florida), died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006. She was born Aug. 20, 1922 in Banks County, Ga. She was a quality inspector in the manufacturing industry and was a member of Longwood Baptist Church. Survivors include husband, John Walls of Sanford; sons, Ray Walls of Osteen, John Roger Walls of Green Cove Springs; daughters Brenda Fay Miller of Longwood and Phyllis Daw of Sanford; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 26, at Oaklawn Chapel from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Longwood with pastor Chris Whaley officiating. Burrell WARD, 60, of Cornelia, GA died October 27, 1973. He was
a native of Banks County, GA and the son of the late John and Sara Savage Ward.
He was a member of the Cornelia Christian Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Bessie Marlin Ward; daughters, Mrs. Elford Loudermilk, Mrs. Lamb Davis and Mrs.
Glenda Shore; son, Troy Ward; brothers, Noel and Earl Ward; grandchildren; great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held October 28, 1973, at the Cornelia Christian Church
with the Minister David Terrell and James Ward officiating. Interment was in
Yonah Memorial Park in Demorest, GA. McGahee Funeral Home was in charge of the
arrangements.
Henry Lee WARD, 72,
of Banks County, Homer, GA died December 25, 1968 in Jackson County, GA. A lifelong
resident of Banks County, GA, Mr. Ward was a son of the late James and Mary Sellers
Ward. Survivors include his wife, Alma Poole Ward; sons, James and Roy Ward; daughters,
Misses Winnie and Woodie Ward; brother, Silas Ward; grandchildren. Funeral services
were held December 27, 1968 at Union Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Lester
Palmer, Clyde Wade and Marvin Loudermilk officiating. Interment was in the Union
Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. McGahee Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
John Samuel WARD, 77,
died December 28, 1982 in Stephens County, GA. Born in Banks County, GA, he was
a son of the late Carl and Mary Roberts Ward. In addition to his parents he was
preceded in death by first wife, Mabelle Brown Ward, second wife, Maudie Lee Brown
Ward. Survivors include his wife, Leila Richie Fricks Ward; daughters, Mrs. C.
W. (Wilma) Pitts, Mrs. Dorothy Mealor, Mrs. Bill (Shirley) Powell, Mrs. Harold
(Kathryn) Tilley; sons, Allen, Marvin, Donald, Kenneth, Bruce and Roger Ward;
stepdaughters, Mrs. Ray (Charlotte) Ward, Mrs. Bill (Sue) Heaton; stepson, Frank
Fricks; sister, Mrs. Inez Cheek; brother, Buren Ward; grandchildren; great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held December 30, 1982 at Acree-Davis Funeral Home, Hillcrest
Chapel, by the Rev. Benny Spears. Interment was in the Nails Creek Baptist Church
Cemetery.
Lelus G. WARD, 80, died
January 1, 1985 in Clarke County, Athens, GA. Born in Banks County, GA, he was
a son of the late Burra and Mary Jane Fowler. Survivors include wife, Stella Seagraves
Ward; sons, Sam, Garnett and Malcolm Ward; daughters, Mrs. Ann Towler, Mrs. Sharon
Booth; brothers, Kermit and Walton Ward; sisters, Mrs. Elvie Harvey, Mrs. Ola
Jane Harvey and Mrs. Woodie Berry; grandchildren. Funeral services were held January
3, 1985 at Brown's Funeral Home Chapel in Danielsville, GA by the Rev. John Kesler.
Interment was in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Clarke County, Athens, GA.
Maudie Lee Brown WARD,
69, died June 14, 1978, in Stephens County, Toccoa, GA. She was born in Banks
County, GA, the daughter of the late William M. and Fannie Snipes Brown and moved
to Toccoa 37 years ago. She was a member of Nails Creek Baptist Church. Survivors
include her husband, Sam Ward; daughters, Mrs. Wilma Pitts, Mrs. Dorothy Mealor,
Mrs. Shirley Powell and Mrs. Katherine Tilley; sons, Allen Ward, Marvin Ward,
Donald Ward, Kenneth Ward, Bruce Ward and Roger Ward; brother, Oscar Brown; 36
grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at Landmark
Baptist Church by Revs. Brent Cochran and Newton Phillips. Interment was in Nails
Creek Cemetery. Acree Davis Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Hanna WATSON, 69, died
February 18. 1924. Mrs. Watson was originally from Banks County, GA although she
had lived in Anderson County for many years. Mrs. Watson was preceded in death
by her husband. Survivors include sons, W. H., J. M., Allen, A. C. and Robert
Watson; daughters, Mrs. S. M. Gunnells, Mrs. Fannie Free, Mrs. B. M. Baldwin,
Mrs. F. A. Gambrell and Mrs. A. J. Mullinax; sisters, Mrs. Annie Guest, Mrs. John
Caudell; grandchildren. Funeral services were held February 19, 1924 at her home
by Rev. E. C. White.
Salona Jordan WATTS,
89, of Banks County, Baldwin, GA, died July 18, 1951 in Fulton County, Atlanta,
GA . Survivors include her husband, W. E. G. Watts; son, Connie N. Watts; daughters,
Mrs. Ola Caudell and Mrs. Beulah Shoal; grandchildren,; great-grandchildren. Funeral
services were held at Harmony Baptist Church on July 19, 1951 with the Revs. Ted
Sisk and S. A. Pless officiating. Interment was in the Harmony Baptist Church
Cemetery.
W. E. G. WATTS, 94,
died June 25, 1955 in Banks County, Baldwin, GA. Mr. Watts was born in Habersham
County, GA. Survivors include son, Connie N. Watts; daughters, Mrs. Ola Caudell,
Mrs. J. O. Shoal; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held June 26, 1955 at Harmony Baptist Church with the Revs.
Ted Sisk and Young Dalton officiating. Interment was in the Harmony Baptist Church
Cemetery. McGahee Funeral was in charge of the arrangements.
WINNIE BELL PAYTON WEAVER, 79, of Alto, died at her residence July 12, 2003. She was born in Banks County November 3, 1923, the daughter of the late Raniles and Addie Lee Payne Payton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Weaver, and a daughter, Taryn Bennett.
Survivors include one sister, Thelma Thompson, Albany.
Burial was in the Line Baptist Church cemetery.
Ernest Avery WELBORN, 85,
of Gillsville, GA died February 8, 2003. A native of Banks County, GA, he was
the son of the late Harve and Maggie Eller Welborn. Survivors include his wife,
Estelle Reid Welborn; son, Willis Welborn; daughter, Janice Manley; brother, Alfred
Welborn; sister, Ruth Anderson; grandchildren; great-grandchild. Funeral services
were February 10, 2003 at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Lula, GA. Burial was
in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Torrey Shannon WEST, 23, of Lula, GA died October
16, 2002, in Atlanta, GA. Born in Hall County, GA on December 15, 1978, Mrs. West
was the daughter of Hubert Dale and Joyce Pittman Smelley. In addition to her
parents, Mrs. West is survived by her husband, Vernon Heath West; sister, Shanda
Smelley; grandparents, Marvin and Edith Pittman, Hugh and Jurell Smelley. Funeral
services were held on October 19, 2002 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev.
Craig Hubbard officiating. Interment was in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.

William Leon WHITE, 39, of Banks County, Homer, GA
died October 12, 2002 in Gainesville, GA. Mr. White was born in Jackson County,
GA on September 8, 1963, the son of Leon White and the late Linda Jane Wilder
White. Survivors in addition to his father, include his wife, Helen Strickland
White; step-sons, Bryan Dale and Dustin Lee Cromer; brother, Jeff White; sisters,
Kathy Nation, Pam Prichett and Patricia Shubert; grandchildren, Cody Lee Cromer,
Jewelianna Bryant Cromer, Katlyn Cromer. Funeral services were held on October
15, 2002 at Ridgeway Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Manus and Doyle Cromer
officiating. Interment was in the Ridgeway Baptist Church Cemetery. Little-Ward

Emmett WHITFIELD, 78, of Seneca, SC, died May 4, 1974.
A native of Banks County, GA, he was a son of the late William and Launah Sellers
Whitfield. Survivors include brother, Pierce Whitfield; sisters, Mrs. W. B. Meeks,
Mrs. L. C. Rogers, Mrs. Jason Hix, Mrs. Guy Powers, Mrs. Maude Watson and Mrs.
J. M. Craft; nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held May 6, 1974 at Beaverdam
Baptist Church by the Revs. James P. Stokes and Frank Wood. Interment was in the

James Elbert WHITFIELD, 84, died May 31, 1959 in Stephens
County, GA. He was born February 16, 1875 in Banks County, GA, the son of the
late Marion and Alphia Cash Whitfield. Survivors include his wife, Lula Martin
Whitfield; daughters, Mrs. Fletcher (Lois) Purcell, Mrs. George McDuffie, Mrs.
Fletcher McAlister, Mrs. Edward Randall and Mrs. James Eadens; sons, Olin and
Otis Whitfield; brother, Claude Whitfield; sisters, Mrs. Joe Murray, Mrs. Luther
Murray, Mrs. Ellis Verner and Mrs. Phillip Purcell; grandchildren; great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held June 2, 1959 at Prospect Methodist Church with the
Rev. Douglas Harmon and the Rev. George Thurmond officiating. Interment was in
the Prospect Methodist Church Cemetery. Dan Mathews Mortuary is in charge of the

Lois Massey WHITFIELD, 80, died December 1, 2001,
in Kings Mountain, NC. She was a native of Banks County, GA, daughter of the late
Lon and Ophelia Shannon Massey and a member of the Brightlight Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. Robert Broughton Whitfield; daughters and
sons-in-law, Robbie and Mayford Beaver, Judy and Eric Hicks; sons and daughters-in-law,
Joel and Kay Whitfield, Raymond and Marie Whitfield; sisters and brother-in-law,
Bertha Jolly, Betty and Herbert Nall; brother and sister-in-law, B. F. and JoAnn
Massey; grandchildren and spouses, Kathi and Mark Beaver, Kevin Whitfield, Brian
and Beth Whitfield, Scott and Jennifer Armstrong, Amanda and Brandon Lisk; great-granddaughter,
Amie Armstrong. Funeral services were December 2, 2001 at Ward Funeral Service
with Revs. Wayne Reese and Rick Duncan officiating. Interment was December 3,
2001 at Line Baptist Church Cemetery in Baldwin, GA.
Otho Hardman WHITFIELD, 74, died December 25, 2002.
Born in Banks County, GA, Mr. Whitfield was the son of the late James Elmer and
Margie Murray Whitfield. He was preceded in death by his brother, Broughton Whitfield.
Mr. Whitfield was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Survivors include wife,
Fannie Ruth M. Whitfield; daughter, Janice Cantrell; sons, Rickey and Randy Whitfield;
grandchildren; great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held December 28, 2002
at Enon Baptist Church with the Revs. Clyde Garrison, Glover Morgan and Lloyd
Martin officiating. Interment was in the Enon Baptist Church Cemetery with the
Rev. Emmett Dale officiating at the graveside. Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel

Pierce Paul WHITFIELD, 92, of Greer, SC, died February
15, 2002. A native of Banks County, GA, he was the widower of Alene Ayers Whitfield
and son of the late William and Launah Sellers Whitfield. He was a member of Fairview
Baptist Church. Survivors include daughters, Polly Wade and Betty Cudd; son, Ray
Whitfield; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren. Graveside
services were held February 17, 2002 in Wood Memorial Park, conducted by Dr. Paul
Welch. Wood Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
Robert Broughton WHITFIELD, 84, of Gastonia, NC, formerly
of Banks County, GA, died April 9, 2002. Born in Banks County, the son of the
late James Elem and Margie Murray Whitfield, he was an ordained minister and a
charter member of the Beech Avenue Baptist Church. He was also a former radio
evangelist with WLTC radio for 17 years. Surviving are sons, Raymond and Joel
Whitfield; daughters, Judy Hick and Robbie Beaver; brother, Hardman Whitfield;
grandchildren; great-grandchildren. Funeral services were April 11, 2002 at the
Ward Funeral Service Chapel, Gastonia, NC, with the Rev. Rick Duncan officiating.
Graveside services were April 12, 2002 at the Line Baptist Church Cemetery in
Baldwin, GA, by the Rev. Clyde Garrison. Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel,
of Baldwin, GA, was in charge of the Georgia arrangements.
R. S. WHITFIELD, 66, of Belton, SC died July 12, 2002.
Born in Banks County, Homer, GA, he was the son of the late Guy Robert Whitfield.
He was preceded in death by a son, Elbert Russell Whitfield; brothers, Billy Joe
and David Whitfield; sister, Imogene McCoy. Surviving are mother, Zadie W. Whitfield;
son, Rocky Scott Whitfield; daughters, Debbie Rene Whitfield, Stephanie Whitfield
Watson and Rachel Ann Whitfield; brothers, Bronson and Bobby Gene Whitfield; sisters,
Olene Burton and Francine Harper; grandchildren. Funeral services were held July
14, 2002 at Bethany Baptist Church by the Revs. Carroll Plemmons and David Kelly.
Interment was in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. Cox Funeral Home of Belton,
SC was in charge of the arrangements.
Guy Littleton WILBANKS, 75, of Baldwin, GA, died April
7, 1976 in Decatur, GA. A life long native of Banks County, GA, he was a son of
the late James H. and Adelia Cash Wilbanks. He was a member of B. C. Grant Baptist
Church, a Veteran of World War I, a member of the American Legion and served as
a commissioner of road and revenue for Banks County from 1950-53. Surviving are
his widow, Mrs. Berdie Lane Wilbanks; sons, Lane and Donald Wilbanks; daughters,
Mrs. Eugene Pruitt, Mrs. Cal Duncan, Jr., Mrs. Rodney Amig , Mrs. Max Vansant
and Mrs. Jack Tooley; brother, Albert Wilbanks; sister, Mrs. Violet White; grandchildren
and great-grandchildren. Services were held April 9, 1976 at B. C. Grant Baptist
Church by Revs. Clyde Garrison and Ed Aiken. Burial was in the B. C. Grant Baptist
Church Cemetery.
Lucille Nunnally WILKINSON, 86, of Baldwin, GA died
March 9, 2002. Mrs. Wilkinson was born on December 19, 1915, in Banks County,
GA the daughter of the late John and Annie Duckett Nunnally. She was a member
of the Harmony Baptist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death
by her husband, Rogers Wilkinson. Survivors include daughters, Lessie Caudell
and Myrna Wilkinson; sister, Mozelle Carlan; grandchild, Terri Cheek. Funeral
services were March 11, 2002, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel in Baldwin,
GA with the Rev. Frank Sailers, the Rev. Billy Burrell and Warren Wilkinson officiating.
Interment was in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. Whitfield Funeral Home, South
Chapel of Baldwin, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
Terrell M. WILKINSON, 84, of Falls Road, Toccoa, GA
died June 23, 1968. Mr. Wilkinson was born October 25, 1883, in Banks County,
GA. He was the son of the late Ben F. and Martha Acree Wilkinson. He was also
preceded in death by grandson, Lt. John Terrell Wilkinson who died in Vietnam
on April 3, 1968. He was a Mason and also a member of Toccoa Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors: wife, Ina Wilkinson; daughters, Mrs. Walker Patten, Miss Ellis Wilkinson,
Mrs. Jack Green and Mrs. Denvir Stith; son, Dr. A. C. Wilkinson; grandchildren;
brother, H. L. Wilkinson. Funeral services were September 25, 1968 at Tates Creek
Baptist Church. Interment was in the Tates Creek Baptist Church cemetery. Arrangements
were by Acree-Davis Funeral Home.
Vernece Wilbanks WILKINSON, 99, of Demorest, GA died
May 5, 2002. She was formerly of the Tates Creek community and was a member of
Tates Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Wilkinson was born in Banks County, GA on March
6, 1903. She was a daughter of the late Gill and Samantha Payne Wilbanks. She
was the oldest of 11 children and was preceded in death by the following siblings:
Travis, Telford, Sevier, Virgil and G.T. Wilbanks and Estelle Newsome. Her husband,
William "Ben" Wilkinson, also preceded her in death. Survivors include: her daughter
and son-in-law, Emma Ruth and Howard Wade; grandchildren, Deborah and Steve Wright,
Revonda and Steve Kimbrell, and Sherri and Ken Cook; great-grandchildren Andy
and Kiley Wright, Brittney, Blake and Bart Kimbrell; Dylan and Haley Cook; sisters,
Ruby Gailey, Elsie Mae Andrews, Christine Wilbanks, and Avoline Chitwood. Funeral
services were May 7, 2002, at Tates Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald
F. Holbrook and the Rev. Andy Wright officiating. Interment was in the Tates Creek
Baptist Church Cemetery. Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel was in charge of
the funeral arrangements.
Chevis F. WORLEY, 73, of Banks County, Homer, GA,
died April 13, 2002. Born September 9, 1928 in Banks County, GA, he was the son
of the late Hughie T. and Dessie Lou Smith Worley. He was a member of the Damascus
Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Boyd Worley. Survivors
include his wife, Marlene Mealor Worley; sons, Dwayne and Cecil Worley; brothers,
Hoyt and J. C. Worley; grandchildren; great-grandchildren. Funeral services were
April 15, 2002, at Damascus Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Todd, the Rev. Harold
Ledford and the Rev. Roy Rogers officiating. Burial was in the Damascus Baptist
Church Cemetery. McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home of Cornelia, GA was in
