William A. McCoy, May 25, 1919-October 24, 1999. Born in Banks County, son of A.B. and Lilly Eubanks McCoy. Served in World War II as a motorcycle specialist. Campaigns include Rhineland, Central Europe, Algeria French Morocco, Sicily, Normandy and Northern France. Awarded the American Defense Medal, the Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, the European-African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon and six Bronze Stars.
