T - Indian War


John Turk (Senior)-August 13. 1813 enlisted to serve six months with Captain Garrett L. Sandidge's Company of Volunteers from Franklin County. Less than three months later, between August 26-November 16, 1813, he died at Fort Lawrence, on the Flint River, possibly of typhoid fever. John Turk was described as a "Medium sized man, rather tall with dark hair and black eyes". born May 4, 1785 in Abbeville, South Carolina. Son of William and Margaret Turk.
