Donald McDonald 1770-1863

Departed from this life at his residence in Banks County, Georgia, on the 28th inst. (March 28, 1863). Donald McDonald, age 93 and 9 months. He had been for over 60 years an exemplary member of the Presbyterian Church, a kind and indulgent father and affectionate husband. As a church member, his place cannot be filled, and he exemplified in his life as well as his death, the character of a true and devoted Christian. Deeply devoted to the cause of the South, we could only wish that his life had been spared to see the termination of the strife. But he has gone to receive that welcome plaudit, " Well done, good and faithful servant, enter thou into joy of thy Lord."

From the original notice that was published in the local newspaper and copied on June 2, 1902 in Royston, Franklin County, Georgia by his "devoted granddaughter", Catherine McDonald Forbes. She also noted that "My Grandfather was born and raised in Scotland."
