Irene J. Segars HALL, 84, December 3, 2001 in Royston, GA. Born in Banks County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Harrison and Emmie Woods Segars and a member of the Canon Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alonzo Watkins Hall; brothers, Alvie, Carl, Lee, John, Harrison, Jr, and N.J. Segars. Surviving are daughters, Emily Owensby, Jean Hamilton, and Shirley Hall; sisters, Mozelle Royston, Wilda Mae Watson, Rachel Chatham and Betty Brown; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren. Services December 5, 2001 in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home by the Revs. Leon Suttles and Willard Crider. Interment was in the Oakview Cemetery in Canon, GA.

Roy HARDY, 89, of Gastonia, NC, died October 15, 2002. A native of Banks County, GA, Mr. Hardy was the son of the late M. L. and Bessie Bennett Hardy. Mr. Hardy is survived by his wife, Thelma Dailey Hardy; son, Tim Hardy; daughters, Mary Emory and Jean Collier; sister, Eva Hardy Toney; brothers, Talmadge, Albert and Charles Hardy. Carothers Funeral Home of Gastonia, NC was in charge of the arrangements.

Wilma Caudell HARRIS, 82, of Toccoa, GA, died July 14, 2002. A native of Banks County, GA, Mrs. Harris was a daughter of the late Dave and Imogene Motes Caudell. She was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church and the Rebecca Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her first husband, H. Glen Howard. Survivors include husband, Howard N. Harris; daughter, Brenda Adams; sons, Mike, Roy, Jim and Ricky Howard; sisters, Woodie Woodall, Mary Lusk, Willie Mae Petroziello, Winnie Witcher, Virginia Jones and Robbie Shirley; nieces and nephews. Services were held on July 17, 2002 at Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Kenneth Moon officiating. Burial was in Stephens Memorial Gardens. Whitlock Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.

M. (Mershel) L. Harrison, 88, of Ga. Highway 98, Maysville, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, at Banks-Jackson-Commerce Medical Center. Born in Banks County, he was retired from law enforcement. He was a member of Maysville Baptist Church, and was the retired sheriff of Banks County, a member of the Georgia Sheriff's Association, Georgia Peace Officers Association and a member of Phi Delta Lodge 148 F & AM, Homer. He worked for the Jackson County Sheriff's Department for 16 years after retiring as Banks County Sheriff. Surviving are widow, Flora Garrison Harrison of Maysville; daughters, Lois Harper and Rachel Wilson of Maysville; brother, Dillard Harrison of Douglasville; sister, Dorothy Martin of Commerce and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was the son of the late Essie Cotton Harrison and Alonzo Harrison. Funeral services were held at Maysville Baptist Church with burial in Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery. Norma Ausburn HARVEY, 71, of Lubbock, TX died April 4, 1997. She was born March 5, 1926, in Banks County, GA, the daughter of Cager Newman and Viola Gailey Ausburn. She married H. F. "Hap" Harvey in Kosciusko, MS in 1947. She was preceded in death by her husband, H. F. Harvey and her parents. Survivors include sons, Robert, Richard, Raymond, Daniel, Roger, Bobby and George Harvey; daughter, Rachel Harvey; sister, Virginia Groves; brother, Frank Ausburn; grandchildren; great-grandchild. Graveside services were April 7, 1997 in Idalou Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Graham officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Stella Parson Henderson, age 107, of 1501 E. Greenville Street, Anderson, SC, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at NHC Healthcare in Anderson, SC. Born in Banks County, GA on September 4, 1897, Mrs. Henderson was the daughter of George Washington Parson and Stella Pritchett Parson. She married John J. Henderson on December 19, 1914 and was a homemaker. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, W. C. Henderson of Anderson, SC; daughters, Lorean H. Fendley of Anderson, SC and Christine Brooks of Spartanburg, SC; twenty beloved grandchildren, twenty seven great-grandchildren and nineteen great-great grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased in death by children, Lois Kelley, Olin Henderson, R. L. Henderson and Grace H. Partain. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Frank Dooley. The McDougald Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

 

 

 


Wortie Lee Lewallen HILL, 71, of Banks County, Baldwin, GA died October 1, 2001. A native of Banks County, GA, Mrs. Hill was a daughter of the late Holman and Gertrude Lewallen. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Hill. Survivors include her husband, Coleman Hill; daughter, Brenda Crawford; sons, Dennis and Bradley Hill; sisters, Agnes Lewallen and Patsy Ayers; brothers, Vance, Gordon, Swayne and Stanley Lewallen; grandchildren; great-grandchild. Funeral services were held October 3, 2001 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Revs. Frank Sailers and Luther Williams officiating. Interment was in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. Whitfield Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Willard HOLLOWAY, 47, of Lula, GA died December 17, 1993. Mr. Holloway was born in Banks County, GA on June 18, 1946, the son of Eunice Morris Holloway Sheridan and the late Samuel S. Holloway. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Frank Morris; great uncle, John Turk Morris. Mr. Holloway is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Dempsey Holloway; sons, Willard Jeffrey and Scott Daniel Holloway; daughter, Melissa Holloway Young; sister, Vicky Sheridan Venable; grandmother, Adell Forrester Morris; uncles, Robert and Coleman Morris. Funeral services were held December 20, 1993 at Mount Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Ralph O. Smith officiating. Interment was in the Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. McGahee-Griffin Funeral Home of Cornelia, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
