THIRZA DAVID

 

 

 

Departed this life June 1st, 1876, at her home in Banks County, Mrs. Thirza David, wife of Deacon James David. She was the only daughter and last remaining child of Captain Owen J. Bowen. Mrs. David was born in Jackson county, Georgia, June 20th, 1803, joining the Baptist church, at Kandler’s Creek, December, 1820; was married to James David July 31st, 1823. She raised seven children, all of whom she lived to see profess Christ and join the Church; five of these, with her aged husband, are left to mourn their loss. She resided during her life in three miles of her birth-place and the church to which she belonged. Mrs. David was truly a good wife, a faithful and affectionate mother, and devoted Christian. For many year she was the warm friend of the temperance cause, and was a Knight Templar at her death.

Note: Burial was in the James David Family Cemetery located on Mitchell Rd, off Hwy. 52 north of Maysville, Ga. According to the book, “Cemeteries and Deaths in Banks County, Georgia” by Richard J. Chambers, the death date on the stone is May 30, 1876.
