Col. Robert McMillan was born 7th January 1805 near the city
of Belfast, Ireland, and died in Clarksville, Ga., on 6th May 1868. From the son of the deceased I learn that he
came to America about the year 1832, and engaged in mercatile pursuits in
Augusta, Ga. In 1836 he was married
to Miss Ruth A. Banks of Elbert co., where he settled and continued his mercantile
pursuits until 1839, when he abandoned this for the profession of law.
