Joseph Elmer VAUGHN, 85, died October 6, 1948. Mr. Vaughn was born in Banks County, GA and was married to the former Miss Fannie Lodemie Martin on December 14, 1882. Mr. Vaughn was a member of the Lamar Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Lodemie Martin Vaughn. The deceased is survived by the following children: George Vaughn, Will Vaughn, Alice Poole, Elizabeth Poole, Ernest Vaughn, Eugene Vaughn, Elmer Vaughn, Owen Vaughn; grandchildren; great grandchildren; great great grandchild. Funeral services were held at Prospect Church on October 7, 1948 with Rev. J. B. Satterfield and J. Robert Martin officiating. Burial was in the Prospect Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were, J. Buiam Martin, John Norton, Clarence G. Hayes, Gervis Vaughn, Ray Poole, Duma Vaughn. Flower girls were: Mrs. Alvin Johns, Mrs. Conway Buford, Mrs. J. B. Ragsdale, the Misses Dema Vaughn, Aubrey Vaughn, Sue Vaughn, Sue Martin, Jennelle Vaughn and Auglee Martin.

 

MARY GORDON VARSAKELIS, 59, of Gallatin Tenn., died August 19, 2003. at St. Mary's Hospital, Athen, Ga. A native of Banks County, she was the daughter of Dorothy Gordon, Commerce and the late John Berry Gordon, and was preceded in death by a son, Robert Henderson.

Mrs. Varsakelis is survived by her mother, husband, Pete Varsakelis, Gallatin, Tenn; daughters, Donna Garrrison, Maysville, and Deborah Stone, Portland, Tenn; sisters, Polly Brown and Emily Gaines, both of Commerce, brother, John Gordon, Crawford.

Burial was in the Webbs Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
