Miss Cora Ragsdale died last Thursday night at her home in this county near Urena, and was buried in the family grave yard on the 5th instant. Miss Cora was one of the best young ladies in the county. She was noted for the purity of her life. And when that dread disease consumption had preyed upon her life until her frail form could not bear it no longer, she knew she was nearing the everlasting shores, she went off into raptures and to Heaven as her friends sang at her suggestion, of the many at the beautiful gate etc. She had gotten near enough to the invisible world to see her friends that had gone before. May her Mantle fall upon another worthy. Source: "Banks County Gazette, Wednesday, Sept. 10, 1890." Note-Cora Ragsdale is buried in the Henry Ragsdale Family Cemetery in Banks County, Georgia. Her birth year is given as 1870. "Cemeteries and Deaths in Banks County, Georgia" by Richard J. Chambers states that she is the wife of Newton Ragsdale, however the 1880 Banks County Census shows Newton and Cora are siblings. Compiled 2005 by Jacqueline King
