W. S. Ray, for fifty years a resident of Saline County, died at Bauxite Wednesday, October31, 1923, aged seventy-one years. Burial was at Social Hill Cemetery Thursday afternoon. Services were conducted by Rev. Francis N. Brewer.

Mr. Ray was born January 5, 1852 in Georgia. He came to Saline County when a young man and has since made this his home. He is survived by his wife and three sons and six daughters, as follows:

Anderson Ray of Little Rock; Carl Ray, St. Louis; Radford Ray, Bauxite; Mrs. Lela Mays, Thiel; Mrs. Lena Knight, Shawnee Okla; Mrs. Mary Lemons, Magnet Cove; and Mrs. Lexie McGill, Bauxite. Also one sister, Mrs. Cordelia Sanders.

Note: William Sebastian/Seaborn Ray was the son of William Jefferson Ray and Nancy Caroline Norwood. He was born in Franklin County in 1852, and was a ward of James Norwood in 1859 in Banks County following his parents' deaths in 1857.
