MRS. AMANDA COBB TRIED FOR MURDER
She is Charged With Killing Her Husband in Franklin County Athens, Ga., 1906 Carnesville, Ga., March 30,-Mrs. Amanda Cobb, wife of late School Commissioner Cobb of Royston was placed on trial this morning; the charge of murdering her husband. The charge of murder grew out of the killing of School Commissioner Cobb, whom Mrs. Cobb shot to death last August, claiming she mistook him for a burglar. When the case was called the courthouse was literally packed, while many stayed outside the doors. Among the witnesses here for the state is Captain Mayo of the Atlanta police force, who will be called on to testify concerning alleged improper conduct of Mrs. Cobb during a visit to Atlanta last summer. Note: Amanda Chitwood Cobb was the daughter of Caleb Chitwood, the wife of W.H. Cobb (married in Banks County) and the mother of Ty Cobb of baseball fame.
After about one hour of deliberation the Jury found her Not Guilty
